A Magical Doorway in my own Kitchen

This is probably one of my favorite fairy doors.  Handcrafted, one of a kind, by my very talented husband, this is made from a horseshoe found on our property.  Living in a farm house that is nearly 200 years old, there have been some incredible finds over the years.  This one was magical from the start and now it sits in my kitchen and is a portal for the fairies.

The first floor dining room, with dinner set for six and a stove, sink and chandelier.

Second floor is the formal living room.  A sofa, two chairs and cozy fireplace complete the look.

Third floor is the master bedroom which includes two cradles for the twin fairies.

Fourth floor is for the boys.  Bunk beds, a deer skin rug and nifty mushroom shelf adorn.

This fairy door has an enchanting door that really opens.

It's difficult to see the logs in the fire and the details on the sofa, but trust me this fairy family has it all.

An Outfit For Every Occasion

Inspired by my mother's bleeding heart and the lily of the valley in my garden, I decided to make some clothes for the fairies.  By far my best material was a snake skin that I have been hanging onto for a couple of years.  I need to stop making them because we have another pressing project that is time sensitive.  However, I keep finding the perfect items to use.  Now, to make an outfit for a boy one fairy.  hmmmmm

Celtic Flair

The newest Fairy Family has moved into Tinker Park this month.  They have a real Celtic Flair Faire to this door near the beginning of the trail.  A very musical fae family, if you put your ear to this tree you might be treated to a jig or a reel.

Fairy Furniture made by Silver Acorn Properties

I have been making fairy furniture this week for the Corn Hill Arts Festival Fairy House Tour.  Molly, my resident math wiz, helped to figure out the formula necessary to make furniture that was scaled to fit an average 3 inch Fairy.  We really want these Fae Folk to be comfortable when they move in!  So we measured human tables and beds and chairs, etc.... then using Molly's formula we determined exactly how big to make each piece as if it were to be for an average Fairy Family!  What fun!

Dinner for six! Complete with goblets, a centerpiece and lots of dinner choices.

And we needed to provide some comfy living room furniture...  A mushroom backed sofa; bark, limb and pine-cone armrest chairs; and a lovely stone coffee table.

And for the walls, some lovely photos of our fairy family, close neighbors and summer cottage.

We really want our fairy families to sleep well so they are well rested to bring their magic to the gardens, forests, and parks.  Therefore, we made these custom queen sized beds.

No worries, we didn't forget about the kids: Bunkbeds are a must!

Of course for the twin babies we have cozy cribs.

Oh Deer! More Fairy Doors!

The lead architect of Silver Acorn Properties SAP designed and installed this fairy house 25 feet off the ground.  Complete with porch, table, chairs and a bench swing, it was so inviting, another family moved in during the early spring months! 

Hard to tell this sweet face to move out.  It is, after all his tree, too!
